Free The Children's Power of a Girl winner announced: congrats, Kate Ashwood!
Many girls took part in the Power of a Girl Initiative contest, backed by Natalie Portman. They each raised money and awareness for girls' education. While every girl who participated came out a winner (as did the many girls who at the Kisaruni Girls Secondary School who benefited from their hard work) one girl won the grand prize.
Kate Ashwood, 13, from Ottawa, Ontario, won a special letter from Natalie Portman as well as the Rodarte designer dress Natalie wore to the premiere of Black Swan. Kate also won a Me to We trip to Kenya with the chance to meet some of the girls from Kisaruni.
